Sciatica nerve pain lower back

Sciatica Treatment Dublin

End Sciatic Pain Without Surgery

Non-surgical spinal decompression targets the root cause of sciatica - a compressed or herniated disc pressing on the sciatic nerve - delivering lasting relief without injections, surgery, or downtime.

Understanding Sciatica

What Is Sciatica?

Sciatica is not a diagnosis in itself - it's a symptom caused by compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve, the longest nerve in the body. It runs from the lower spine, through the buttock, and down each leg to the foot.

The most common cause is a herniated or bulging disc in the lumbar spine (L4–S1) pressing directly on the nerve root. Other causes include degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, and piriformis syndrome.

Without treating the underlying disc problem, sciatica rarely resolves on its own - and can worsen over time. Painkillers and physiotherapy alone often provide only temporary relief because they don't address the disc compression.

Symptoms

Do You Have Sciatica?

Sciatica symptoms vary depending on which nerve root is affected. Common signs include:

Sharp, shooting pain from the lower back into the buttock, leg, or foot
Burning or electric-shock sensation down one leg
Numbness or tingling in the leg, calf, or toes
Weakness in the leg or foot (foot drop)
Pain that worsens when sitting, coughing, or sneezing
Difficulty standing up straight or walking
Pain on one side only (though both sides can be affected)
Lower back pain alongside leg symptoms

Recognise these symptoms? Don't wait - sciatica caused by disc compression rarely resolves without treating the underlying disc problem. Book a book appointment now →

The Treatment

How Spinal Decompression Treats Sciatica

The Computerised Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression system creates a precise negative intradiscal pressure - a gentle distraction force that pulls the compressed disc away from the nerve root. This achieves three things that no other conservative treatment can replicate:

01

Decompresses the nerve

The distraction force creates space between vertebrae, directly relieving pressure on the sciatic nerve root - often producing immediate symptom reduction.

02

Rehydrates the disc

Negative pressure draws water, oxygen, and nutrients back into the dehydrated disc, restoring its height and cushioning ability.

03

Promotes disc healing

Improved disc nutrition supports the body's natural healing process, allowing herniated or bulging disc material to retract away from the nerve over the course of treatment.

04

Prevents recurrence

A healthier, properly hydrated disc is far less likely to re-herniate. Combined with our physiotherapy programme, most patients maintain their results long-term.

Treatment Protocol

What to Expect

20–30 sessions30–45 minutes per session3–5 sessions per week

Phase 1

Acute relief

Sessions 1–8

Rapid reduction in nerve pain and leg symptoms as disc pressure is relieved. Most patients notice significant improvement within the first two weeks.

Phase 2

Disc healing

Sessions 9–20

Continued decompression promotes disc rehydration and retraction of herniated material. Symptoms continue to improve and stabilise.

Phase 3

Rehabilitation

Sessions 21–30

Physiotherapy and targeted exercise to strengthen the supporting muscles, correct posture, and protect the disc from future injury.

Why RejuvaDisc

Why Choose RejuvaDisc for Sciatica?

Computerised Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression

We use the gold-standard Computerised Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression system - the most clinically studied spinal decompression device in the world, with peer-reviewed outcomes data.

Free MRI review

We review your existing MRI or X-ray before recommending treatment. If we can't help you, we'll tell you honestly and refer you to someone who can.

No surgery, no injections

Spinal decompression is entirely non-invasive. There's no recovery time, no anaesthetic, and no risk of surgical complications.

Integrated physiotherapy

Every decompression patient also receives physiotherapy and rehabilitation to maximise results and prevent recurrence.

Experienced specialist team

Our team includes CORU-registered physiotherapists with specialist training in spinal decompression and disc pathology.

Transparent candidacy assessment

Not everyone is a candidate. We carry out a thorough assessment first - we only treat patients we're confident we can help.

Patient Stories

Real Results from Real Patients

"I had shooting pain down my left leg for over a year. I couldn't sit at my desk for more than 20 minutes. After 15 sessions at RejuvaDisc the pain was gone. I wish I'd found them sooner."

Aoife Downey

Dublin

"My MRI showed a herniated disc at L5/S1 pressing on the nerve. My consultant said surgery was the next step. RejuvaDisc got me pain-free without it. Absolutely life-changing."

Triona
